Many people are unaware that they have diabetes. Some people may have the symptoms but over look them or don't take them seriously. This is one of the reasons it is a good idea to have a yearly physical. During the physical the doctor should order a CBC/blood screen, so that they can make sure that sugar levels are normal. If your levels come back abnormal the primary care physician will let you know & tell you what changes you should do.
Your primary care physician can also help you build a team to support & guide you. This can include a dietician/nutritionist, a psychologist/psychiatrist, just to name a few.
